Starting from October 12th this year, Aapo Cederberg has joined the Rugged Tooling team as an advisor. He will be a valuable addition to our advisory board due to his extensive experience and outlook on international cyber security.
Aapo Cederberg is a leading cyber security expert with vast experience in the field of cyber security. He is currently the CEO of Cyberwatch Finland and an associate fellow at Geneva Centre for Security Policy. He has previously held the position of Secretary General overseeing the Security and Defence Committee within the Finnish Ministry of Defence from 2007 to 2013 and worked in various positions in the Finnish Defence Forces.
With his strong background and knowledge, he will be able to provide insight and a broad perspective on the cyber security field. In his position, he will give valuable guidance to Rugged Tooling and support our future growth.
Rugged Tooling has appointed Petri Ylläsjärvi as the new CEO as from the beginning of August 2017.
Petri Ylläsjärvi is a telecom industry professional with a solid sales and business development background. He has more than 15 years of experience and a successful track record in global test and measurement business. Before joining Rugged Tooling, Petri held a direction position in global sales at Viavi Solutions (NASDAQ: VIAVI). He has held various management positions in the field of sales, business development and product management at EXFO (NASDAQ: EXFO), NetHawk and Siemens.

Petri holds M.Sc. degree in Communications Engineering from Aalto University (previously Helsinki University of Technology). During his career he has also been working and living in France and US.

Intrusion detection and prevention platform
Our new real-time intrusion detection and prevention (IDS and IPS) platform will be published at MILstartup, a side event at Slush, on 29 November 2016.
This real-time intrusion detection and prevention platform will improve the safety of networks by enabling real-time visibility to 100 Gbpsnetworks and filtering important data for analysis and storage. Suspicious data streams can be blocked entirely. This means the platform not only improves cyber security, but also uses resources efficiently.

Repeatable packet drop testing is one of the new features in rugged deviation emulator Rude in the latest product update. The basic problem with packet drop testing is that all packets are not equally critical. A random drop scenario may target more significant packets during one test round, and less significant in the next, making it difficult to pinpoint the root causes for network problems. Now it is possible to create a drop pattern by selecting precisely the packets to be dropped and repeating exactly the same drop pattern in later test sessions. Rugged Tooling continues to strengthen its operations in China. To ensure a good presence in the vibrant and demanding Chinese market, the company has signed sales partnership agreements with two additional Chinese companies: Shanghai Bestgulf Technology Co., Ltd and VIRE Technologies Co., Ltd. Rude 3.1 offers wide possibilities to run versatile stress test and ensure that your product meets the targeted limits before it is live and too late. With this product release, the users will be able to create even more challenging test scenarios by using new functionality in our data hammering option. Data hammering allows user to perform real-time IPv4/IPv6 packet fragmentation with size definition of individual fragments, timing, reordering and drop of fragments (patents pending). 1 GbE fiber optic connection will be supported together with several enhancements in statistics - now adding statistics to transmit direction as well. Rugged Tooling today released a new version of Rugged deviation emulator (Rude). Most significant improvement with the version 3.0 is additional port pair option which enhances Rude to support two 1 GbE physical line pairs for connecting in system under test. This enables independent traffic deviation generation e.g. in two separate base station interfaces. Deviation rules are set by the user independently for line pairs and deviations in one line pair do not disturb the other line pair. Rugged Tooling today released a new version of Rugged deviation emulator (Rude). Most significant improvement with the version 2.13 is introduction of IP fragmentation. The smaller the IP packets are, the harder it is for the network element to handle them. Rude 2.13 brings real-world use case of fragmented traffic to the laboratory. The feature allows to target fragmentation to certain traffic only, e.g. based on IP address, and ensure that other parts of the network remain intact. There is no more need for manual configuration routines on the test network. This feature is the first step towards a full automated testing on fragmented packet traffic.
